Kathy Arpa was re-elected Area X Vice President at the Area X Caucus Meeting at the 2010 VFC Convention in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Area X, located in Northern Virginia, consists of almost 5,000 members in seven chapters: Arlington, Dulles, Fairfax, Loudoun, McLean-Great Falls, Metro Area of Northern Virginia and Vienna-Oakton.

Kathy is the past president of Chapter 1116 (Vienna-Oakton) which celebrated its 40th anniversary in December 2009. She attended the 2008 NARFE National Convention in Louisville, KY and the 2009 National Legislative Training held at Arlington, VA. As AVP, she participates in the Northern Virginia Caucus with chapters in Areas IX and X. Kathy served as Co-chair of the 2009 VFC Convention in May 2009. Kathy will represent Region X on the Membership Committee at the National Convention which will be held in Grand Rapids, MI August 29-September 2, 2010.

Kathy has been on the Board of Directors of the Dunn Loring Woods Civic Association in Vienna for six years and serves as co-editor of their newsletter. She is also a member of the AARP Chapter 754 in Vienna.

Kathy retired from the Federal Government in 2004 and resides in Vienna, VA with her husband Mark.

Kathy’s goals for Area X are to establish better communication with her seven chapters through email, newsletters and Area X meetings and to work with chapters to recruit active and retired federal employees living in Northern Virginia to reach their goal of 5,000 members in Area X in the near future.

  Meets second Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. in the Vienna Community Center, Park and Cherry Street, SE, Vienna, VA. No meeting in July and August. Luncheon meetings in June and December at noon. (Meeting cancelled if Fairfax County Schools are closed because of inclement weather.)
