This will be my seventh year serving as the Area VII Vice-President, having taken a one-year sabbatical this past year. This will also be my seventh year serving as the President of The NARFE Shenandoah County Chapter 2358 meeting in Mt. Jackson, VA. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the VFC leadership and all levels of NARFE membership. Three years ago, I was a member of the By-Laws Committee at the 2014 NARFE National Convention in Orlando, FL representing Region X.

I was born and grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. After graduating from high school in 1959, I entered the NROTC program at Ohio State University. After my sophomore year, I transferred to the University of Missouri, Columbia where I received my BA in Mathematics. Upon graduation in 1964, I was also commissioned an Ensign, US Navy. I then entered Flight Training and received my wings later in 1964 as a Naval Flight Officer. I flew as a Flight Crew Tactical Coordinator in Viet-Nam in 1966, and subsequently left Active Duty in 1974 as a Navy Lieutenant. I joined the Navy Reserve that year, and stayed until I retired in 1991 as a Navy Captain. Also, from 1974 until 1985, I was a civilian contractor/consultant to the Federal Government. In 1985, I began my Federal Civil Service career which consisted of 17 years at the National Security Agency as a Senior Computer Scientist/Senior Systems Engineer where I retired from in 2001. After that, I worked again as a civilian contractor/consultant until I retired from the EDS Corporation in 2007 as an Intelligence Community Senior Management Consultant. Subsequently in 2008, I was a Senior Management Consultant to the FBI for a year. I received my doctorate in Business Administration from Century University, Albuquerque, NM in 1994. I also have an MSA and a DBA (ABD) from George Washington University in Washington, DC, along with my undergraduate degree from Missouri.

I am a Past President and member of the Basye/Bryce Mountain Lions Club. I am also a Life Member of: The Disabled American Veterans, the Military Officers Association of America, and the Association of the United States Navy.

I live in Basye, Virginia with my wife, Paula. We have 5 adult children and 15 grandchildren scattered throughout Maryland, Georgia, California, Utah, and Hawaii. Last December, our son, Dave, married Kim, a grandmother, making us first time great-grandparents.
