Delwyn "Del" Dyer

Area VI Vice President

A damn yankee from Michigan. A Virginia resident since 1968. Three time Michigan State graduate. Early career in 4-H leadership at the county and state level. Extension Specialist in 4-H and Community Development from 1968 to retirement in 1992. Director of Va Tech Center for Volunteer Development from 1981 to 1992. Past National President of the Association of Voluntary Action Scholars and the Community Development Society. Owner-Operator of Dori-Del Hills and Equine Center (since 1974) specializing in raising Appaloosa Horses and boarding and training for others. Operate a horse drawn carriage business focusing mostly on weddiings. Married Oneda Burleson-Dyer in 2007. I have three grown children and she has four. There are seven grandchildren.

 

Area VI stretches from Roanoke to the Cumberland Gap. Roanoke (111) and New River Valley (1134) are the largest Chapters. Members are fairly sparse in the far southwest. Some members ot the Wilderness Chapter have to travel 60 -70 miles one way to attend a meeting. We welcome all active and retired federal employees in the area to join us as we work to preserve our federal benefits.
