General meeting every second Wednesday at 1:00PM in the Culpepper Garden Senior Center, 4435 Pershing Drive, Arlington, Va. except in July, August, and December. Social hour starts about 30 minutes before meeting starts. Interesting speakers scheduled for each general membership meeting. Luncheons for the entire membership are scheduled for June and December. Celebrity speakers are engaged for these luncheon meetings.
Executive Board Meeting on third Thursday of each month except June and July.
National Headquarters has informed us that we need to update and clarify the dues provision in our chapter bylaws. New dues-free honorary life memberships were discontinued on September 9, 2008. Honorary life members by that date have the option to keep that status or convert to distinguished membership and pay dues. Accordingly, members are notified that at the upcoming December 15 meeting, we will vote to make the necessary changes to conform to National’s Bylaws. Additions are underlined.
ARTICLE VI Chapter Dues
Section 1. . The chapter shall fix such dues as are necessary to meet expenses of carrying out its business and functions. Chapter dues shall be determined by the Executive Board of Directors, and ratified by a majority of the members at a general meeting. According to National By-laws, members whose Chapter dues are three-months overdue shall be dropped. Members who have been given an honorary life membership in NARFE prior to September 9, 2008, shall be given the same honor and privilege in the Chapter, including the waiver of Chapter dues. Members are responsible for maintaining current information with NARFE.
