The Chesapeake Chapter 1682 meets on the First Tuesday of each month (except in July and August when there are no meetings) at the Chesapeake Medical Center's Lifestyle Center. Meetings begin at 1200pm, noon, in the Lifestyle Center building... which is in a 'stand-alone' one story brick building, two doors down from the main hospital entrance, 800 Battlefield Blvd., North, Chesapeake. Lunch is catered into the meeting room from the hospital's cafeteria and is served by the cook who prepares and transports the entrees. Cost of the lunch is $9.00... and we preorder the number of meals, so it's important for us to know who and how many will be attending. You can reserve your meal with our Social Director and Telephone Committee Chair, Ms. Ruth Knape (nah-PAY).
Each month we have a guest speaker and we try for a variety of subjects. Some are congressional and political staff members, others provide excellent information concerning senior issues, retirement homes, museum directors, professional baseball spokespersons, singer and/or entertainers etc. Each fall season, we invite a federal healthcare provider to visit with us and update costs and benefits. Our chapter Christmas party is part of our December meeting. In addition to the monthly speakers, our officers and members focus on NARFE's goals and objectives along with those of the Virginia Federation of Chapters.
We welcome all Retired and Active Federal Civil Service employees and their spouses, as well as friends and other visitors. Plan to come and meet our group and find out what benefits NARFE provides for you. Any questions can be addressed to President Bobby Whittington, 757-393-7504 or email@example.com or to Social Chair Ruth Knape, 757-547-4718.
*Note: If the first Tuesday of the month falls on a holiday the meeting may be changed to another date. Please call for information.
