Meetings
We meet the second Tuesday of each month at 11:30 at the Inn at Vint Hill, 4200 Aiken Drive, about 5 miles east of Warrenton, Virginia. We have coffee waiting for you, and our meeting starts at noon. After a nice buffet luncheon we have a speaker, followed by a brief business meeting. The cost is $13. We ask that you make a reservation by the Friday before the meeting by calling or emailing Ann Thompson. (540-341-4320 or athompson7758@exede.net)
In September we have a picnic, usually at Rady Park in Warrenton, at 11:30. Each member brings a cover dish to share. The chapter provides plates, utensils, napkins etc.
Our December meeting is a holiday party at the Inn. Normally there is no business meeting, but we do install officers for the coming year. We enjoy holiday music and exchange gifts valued at $10 or less.
Chapter Activities
We hold a 50/50 raffle at each meeting. 50% goes to Narfe's Alzheimer's fund; 25% goes to local charities; and 25% goes to the winner.
At every meeting we collect donations for the local food bank; bags may be left in the foyer and a chapter member will deliver them after the meeting.
We publish a quarterly newsletter which is sent to all chapter members. It includes articles of interest for Virginia federal employees and retirees and chapter news.
We sponsor a booth at the Warrenton Spring Festival which is held the third Saturday in May. This festival, one of the top 20 festivals in Virginia, features 250 artisans, crafters, food and entertainment, and it attracts over 25,000 visitors annually. This is our main Narfe recruitment event of the year, and we pass out Narfe pamphlets, membership applications and copies of our monthly magazine.
Our executive committee meets the first Wednesday of every quarter for breakfast at Denny's restaurant, 7323 Comfort Inn Dr, east of Warrenton on Route 29. We meet at 9:30 and the meeting is open to all chapter members.
Inclement Weather Policy
We follow the guidelines for Fauquier County schools. If Fauquier schools are closed, we do not meet. However, if schools open late, we meet as planned.
