PROVIDING VALUE TO MEMBERS
Welcome to our website! We are Woodbridge Chapter
1270 of the National Active and Retired Federal
Employees Association – NARFE.
With nearly 800 active members, we serve eastern
Prince William County, including the communities of Dumfries,
Triangle, Montclair, Lake Ridge, Occoquan, and Woodbridge. Our
goal is to provide value to members through advocacy
with our State and Federal legislators to influence important
issues impacting active Federal employees and retirees and their
families and survivors, and to disseminate information on these
same issues. We address a wide array of issues and concerns,
including employee compensation, retiree annuities, health benefits,
health care reform, and other benefits. Considering our country's
current budget situation and the fact that civilian federal
employees and retirees may be targeted to help control the deficit,
NARFE is actively working on its membership's behalf. With the
recent two-year pay freeze on Federal employee pay, along with
a 5-year, non-security discretionary spending freeze on federal
spending, Federal employees, retirees, and their families and
survivors are clearly at risk, as the United States government
struggles to curb the huge U.S. budget deficit. As Joseph A.
Beaudoin, NARFE's National president, stated recently, “We
understand the purpose of shared sacrifice. But federal employees
and their families once again are being singled out. This action
comes at a time when the federal government can ill afford to
put recruitment and retention at risk. Indeed, freezing or cutting
pay sends the wrong signal to the best and brightest workers
federal agencies will need in these difficult times." However
. . . “In light of the growing number of critical
challenges being shouldered by federal workers, the government
cannot afford to make substantial reductions to the earned compensation
of individuals who have dedicated their careers to public service.
For that reason, we urge the president to reconsider this ill-conceived
decision.” Since its inception in 1921, NARFE, representing
5 million current employees and future federal annuitants, spouses,
and survivors nationwide, has been an aggressive advocate for
safeguarding already earned rights and benefits and maintaining
or improving them for the future. Fight back against attacks
on your benefits and reputation. Click

a degradation in your earned rights and benefits as a current
or retired Federal employee.
Congratulations to Joyce Pieritz, Jim Little, Darwin Ransom, and John Lange who were reelected to their previous positions as President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, respectively, for calendar year 2012. We appreciate their willingness to serve in these important positions. This year will be an exciting and challenging one as we all fight to defend all of our earned rights and benefits.
While fighting for our constituency's well-being is our number
one goal, we are also dedicated to raising funds to fight and
to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease through annual and on-going
fundraising events. Check out our Alzheimer's Research tab and
Photo Gallery on this website to learn more about our efforts
to raise funds to combat Alzheimer's. To learn more about our
chapter's other activities, click on the Learn More tab below
